2011′s Best PC Game

Who’d have thought that the sequel to a game that had to be re-released before it could be even considered as a decent game would be so spectacular? The Witcher 2 has so much going for it that I barely know where to start, and though it will later have it’s Xbox 360 debut, I’m proud to say that this is the greatest PC game of the year and takes this award with no competition in sight. Not only has it vastly improved upon what the original game brought to the table, but it’s also improved on the genre as a whole. Annoyances like strict inventory management are gone and have been replaced by a much more basic system – basic, but successful. Voice acting quality has been kicked up about ten notches, and combat feels fast a fluid. The story is spectularly engaging, and with a split path right at the end of the first act, it even warrants a second playthrough so you can hear the countless lines of dialogue you didn’t experience and visit all the areas you didn’t even know were there to explore. The Witcher 2 is set in a rich, dark, and mature fantasy world that you should all enter…if your PC is up to the job, and though it can offer a painful challenge at times, it’s definitely worth enduring. Quite frankly, I miss a good challenge in todays games. Thanks, Geralt of Rivia.

Honorable Mention: Battlefield 3 and Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad
