2011′s Best Shooter

If there is any genre I really know about, it’s the shooter genre. I can honestly say that even though the single-player is pretty poor, and that the co-op isn’t anything to get excited over, the multiplayer of Battlefield 3 alone is enough to bring Battlefield 3 to the top of this years list of shooters. It’s the most beautiful game of the year with only one particularly close competitor, has the immense scale we know and love which is a return to form for the series, and it just plays phenomenally smooth. I’ve suck many an hour into Battlefield 3′s online multiplayer with my eyes almost burning thanks to its good looks, and my hands almost going numb through playing it for prolonged heart-pounding sessions. Infantry combat, vehicular combat, aerial combat, and maybe a bit of naval warfare on the side – Battlefield 3 has everything, and the only real evolution it needs is for it to be even bigger, perhaps. Though it reigns supreme on the PC, Battlefield 3 still holds its ground on the consoles; and though you may bring up the Modern Warfare 3 vs. Battlefield 3 feud, it’s really a no brainer. Screw this, I’m going off to play Battlefield 3.
Honorable Mention: Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad and Resistance 3
