2011′s Best Xbox 360 Game
I’d always felt somewhat obliged to play the Gears of War series, as if to validate my purchase of an Xbox 360 or something, but Gears of War 3 has made enough subtle changes to an already solid formula making the third entry to the series a simply stellar third-person shooter. With one of the best multiplayer suites going on a supremely multiplayer dominated platform, and by far the greatest campaign of the three games, Gears of War 3 is almost too good. Yes, it’s more of the same roadie-running and chainsawing action you’ve come to expect, but the story is also more mature with less of the ‘dude bro’ attitude and more focus on the members of Delta Squad and their plight, though the sudden introduction of new members to the team is a little weird. The game also looks spectacular, with Gears of War 3 being one of the better graphical achievements on the system. Oh, you Epic guys and your Unreal Engine. As far as I’m concerned, screw Call of Duty when it comes to Xbox 360 multiplayer. Go with Gears of War 3. It isn’t cheap anymore, for one.
